1973 Datsun 240Z — Nut & Bolt Restoration
Vehicle Overview
1973 Datsun 240Z — Nut & Bolt Restoration, Triple Webers, L28 5-Speed
This 1973 Datsun 240Z has undergone a meticulous nut-and-bolt restoration and is finished in factory Lime Yellow (Color Code 112) with satin black trim accents. Built with a focus on performance, drivability, and period-correct styling, this S30 combines classic Z-car looks with carefully selected upgrades throughout.
Power comes from a rebuilt L28 inline-six sourced from a later 280ZX and paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt with .030-over pistons and features an N42 cylinder head, Schneider racing camshaft and rockers, upgraded valve springs, long-tube headers, and a 2.5-inch exhaust system. Fuel delivery is handled by triple side-draft Weber carburetors with a custom air box enclosure and K&N cone filter. Ignition upgrades include a ZX Turbo distributor, MSD 6A ignition box, and MSD coil.
The suspension has been upgraded with Bilstein struts and lowering springs, providing improved handling while maintaining excellent street manners. The car rides on period-correct Epsilon wheels refinished in gloss black, measuring 16x7 in the front and 16x8 in the rear, wrapped in Hankook Ventus V2 Concept2 tires.
Finished in Lime Yellow inside and out, the exterior features polished stainless-steel bumpers, new chrome mirrors and door handles, BRE front and rear spoilers, rear window louvers, and a removable 3M-wrapped hood. The restoration included all new rubber seals and extensive attention to detail throughout, with the seller noting there is no rust anywhere on the vehicle.
Inside, the cabin has been insulated with Kilmat sound and heat insulation and fitted with Recaro LS seats mounted on JDM-correct brackets and sliders. Additional upgrades include a vintage competition steering wheel, Sony stereo, and Kenwood speakers.
